COUNSELLING

Counselling is the process of actively working through a range of issues and concerns that are causing an individual problems in their life.

These may include problematic behaviour such as alcohol or drug use, gambling, mental health issues ranging from anxiety and depression to schizophrenia or the impact of stress and trauma.

A counsellor walks alongside their clients, and works collaboratively to make sense of difficult issues arising and devising a range of strategies in order to facilitate change.

Counselling uses a range of approaches that are grounded in research including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Behaviour Therapy to support people that are experiencing difficulties, and develop solutions that promote active change.
